Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes

This website explores the world of Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr. It is based on the true story of Sadako Sasaki who died at the age of twelve after developing leukaemia as a result of the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima on August 6th 1945. I have developed a web quest supported by an annotated collection of web resources. The web quest is designed for a Stage Three class, in particular a Grade Five level. It asks students to research how relevant Sadako’s story is on their own lives, why she is a hero to the children of Japan and if they believe she can be a hero in their own lives.
